2024 NFL Draft: Grading and Breaking Down All 32 Picks Of The 1st Round

The NFL Draft day is here! I will be breaking down every pick of the 2024 NFL draft.

1st Pick: Chicago Bears - Caleb Williams QB

This has been the consensus number one pick since the beginning of the season. The Bears are getting the best quarterback in this year's class, and a stud at USC. Williams played his first season at Oklahoma, before transferring to USC. Caleb threw for over 3,500 yards in his final 2 years of college. He also had a touchdown rate of 42/5 and 30/5 in his 2nd and 3rd years of college. The Bears are getting a proven star in college. We will see if he will have the same success in the NFL.

Grade: A+

2nd Pick: Washington Commanders - Jayden Daniels QB

Jayden Daniels will be heading to Washington. Daniel's is coming off a spectacular 2023 season, which resulted in a Heisman Trophy. Daniels played at Arizona State for 3 years, before the moved to LSU. He was unable to crack 3,000 passing yards in his 1st year, but played great in his second one. I think that Kliff Kingsbury will be able to turn Daniels into a Lamar Jackson type quarterback. He had 41 touchdowns last season, and had a 72% completion percentage.

Grade: A

3rd Pick: New England Patriots - Drake Maye QB

The standout quarterback from North Carolina will be heading to New England. I think that this is not an amazing pick. Maye had some good stats in college, throwing for over 4,300 yards in his final season. Maye is going to a system where I don't expect him to be the starter originally. I think that learning from Jacoby Brusett could be very beneficial for Drake Maye, and they might be able to learn, take over, and succeed. I just don't think that that will happen.

Grade: A-

4th Pick: Arizona Cardinals - Marvin Harrison Jr. WR

The first non-quarterback has gone off the board. Marvin will hope to be as good as his dad, and he has a good quarterback (Kyler Muarray), who I expect to become a dynamic duo with him. Harrison Jr. has over 1,200 yards in the last 2 seasons at Ohio State University. I expect him to get 1,000+ yards in his first season in the NFL season. I think that Harrison Jr. will be a top wide receiver in the NFL for a few years to come in the NFL.

Grade: A+

5th Pick: Los Angeles Chargers: Joe Alt OT

The Chargers get themselves an amazing tackle with the 5th pick in the draft. The player is Norte Dame’s offensive tackle, Joe Alt. Alt has had a great collegiate career, but I expect that the Chargers will be playing him at the left tackle position, and will be protecting Justin Herbert’s blindside. I think that Alt will be able to establish himself as an amazing tackle for his career. He will be protecting Herbert for years to come.

Grade: A

6th Pick: New York Giants - Malik Nabers WR

Malik Nabers will be heading to New York. The LSU stud who is the all-time leader in receptions over there, with 189 and has over 3000 yards in his career at LSU. Nabers is especially good coming out of the slot, and to make a lot of things happen with the ball in his hands. I expect him to heavily elevate Daniel Jones’s play, and make him a lot better.

Grade: A+

7th Pick: Tennessee Titans - JC Latham OT

The Tennessee Titans select JC Latham, with the seventh overall pick in the NFL Draft I think this is a heavy reach and I know the Tennessee Titans could've made a better pick than this one. I know that they want to get some protection, but I think getting them a weapon would've been a better idea. I would've went for a wide receiver like Rome Odunze, but instead they decided to go offensive line. I do not hate the pick, but I sure don't love it

Grade: C

8th Pick: Atlanta Falcons - Michael Penix Jr. QB

The most stunning pick of the first round has been made. Michael Penix Jr. was selected by the Atlanta Falcons. Penix was the runner-up to the Heisman Trophy winner last year, only losing to Jaden Daniels. I like Michael Penix's skillset, but I do not like the situation he has been put into. I do not feel like he will succeed well behind Kirk cousins and his current. I think he would've been better off as a starter to begin the season, rather than a back up. I think that he will have moderate success when he ends up taking over for Kirk Cousins.

Grade: D+

9th Pick: Chicago Bears - Rome Odunze WR

The Chicago Bears just selected Caleb Williams with the first overall pick this year's draft, and now they're getting him some help by selecting a wide receiver from Washington. They selected Rome Odunze I think that the Bears offense will be pretty scary this year to threaten the Lions for a potential spot in the playoffs. I think Odunze will end up fitting in well and a wide receiver room with both DJ Moore and Keenan Allen.

Grade: A

10th Pick: Minnesota Vikings - JJ McCarthy QB

The Minnesota Vikings moved up one spot to select JJ McCarthy with the 10th overall pick in the NFL draft. They traded with the New York Jets, which I think was the right move. The Vikings wanted to be sure that they would be able to get their guy, and I think it'll be interesting to see how it plays out in their situation. if the Vikings will end up starting Sam Donald week one of the season or if they will start JJ for the first game of the season. I think that if McCarthy can play well, the Vikings should be scary this year.

Grade: A+

11th Pick: New York Jets - Olumuyiwa Fashanu OT

New York Jets finally found someone to block Aaron Rodgers. Last season, Aaron Rodgers got injured on the fourth play of the year on a sack, and the Jets are hoping to get him. Some protection will help prevent some injuries. The Jets offensive line is looking a lot better this year, and I expect Aaron Rodgers to be amazing this season, proving to the doubters that he still has it. I like this decision from the Jets, and I think it will end benefiting them for a while to come.

Grade: A

12th Pick: Denver Broncos - Bo Nix QB

The most experienced quarterback in college football history is going to the mile high city. Oregon's quarterback, who has made 61 starts in his college career, will be leading out the Broncos squad. Nix has been pretty solid at college, as Oregon has always been a pretty good squad. I expect him to be starting week one of this season, as I don't expect Zach Wilson to get the job over him. I do not expect Nix to succeed in his first year, but I think he might have a bright future ahead of him.

Grade: B+

13th Pick: Las Vegas Raiders - Brock Bowers

It may have taken a season, but the Las Vegas Raiders have found their replacement for Darren Waller. With the 13th pick in the NFL draft, the Las Vegas Raiders selected Georgia tight end Brock Bowers. Bowers is a proven winner, as he played on an amazing team two years ago, that won the national championship, and was ranked first almost the entire year, before losing the SEC championship to Alabama. if Aidan O'Connell ends up being the starter in week one, don't be surprised if he looks Bowers way a lot.

Grade: A+

14th Pick: New Orleans Saints - Taliese Fuaga OT

The Oregon State graduate is heading to the NFL. The New Orleans Saints have found a star tackle. He played an amazing Senior Bowl game, which caught the attention of a lot of NFL scouts. I don't really like there draft decision this season, as they didn't get a quarterback. I would have traded up to the top 10, and then selected a quarterback, or at least get Dallas Turner to help make the Saints pass rush more scary.

Grade: F

15th Pick: Indianapolis Colts - Laiatu Latu EDGE

The edge rusher out of UCLA is the 1st defensive player drafted in the draft. This is the first time that the draft took 15 picks to get a defensive player off the board, setting and NFL record. Latu is an outstanding pass rusher, but is also good when he drops back into coverage. I think that the culture found themselves a very good edge rusher, who can also play linebacker if needed.

Grade: A

16th Pick: Seattle Seahawks - Byron Murphy II DT

The Seattle Seahawks have drafted Byron Murphy II out of Texas university with the 16th pick in the NFL draft. Murphy was a solid defensive tackle at Texas, recording five sacks in his last season at Texas. I expect that interior pressure to translate over to the Seahawks roster, and I expect him to be very dominant and his rookie season. I would've rather that they decided to draft. Someone like Dallas Turner however I do like this pick.

Grade: B

17th Pick: Minnesota Vikings - Dallas Turner EDGE

The Minnesota Vikings crushed this draft. I have been very high on Dallas Turner, and I think they're getting him this late in the draft is a steal. I had them going a lot higher in the draft, but I think being able to get him this late is an amazing thing. I like both of the Vikings picks in the draft so far, and think that they are set pretty well for the future. Turner had an amazing career at Alabama, and I definitely think that it's successful transfer over to the NFL.

Grade: A+

18th Pick: Cincinnati Bengals - Amarius Mims OT

The Cincinnati Bengals have selected Amarius Mims with the 18th overall pick in the NFL draft. I am not a fan of this pick, mainly because of the lack of experience, Mims has shown so far in his young career. He only played eight games as a right tackle at Georgia, And I don't think he will be very good off the right side of the Bengals offensive line. I do not think the Bengals trust him enough to play on the left side, so if he ends up starting, he will start on the right side.

Grade: D+

19th Pick: Los Angeles Rams - Jared Verse EDGE

With the 19th pick in the NFL draft, the Los Angeles Rams selected Jared Verse out of Florida State University. Verse is very skilled, and is one of the best edge rushers in the draft. Dallas Turner is better than him in my opinion. I think she will match amazingly with Aaron Donald on the other side of him, and will be a nightmare for quarterback to have to deal with. I think that the Rams have not established the best defensive line in all of football.

Grade: A

20th Pick: Pittsburgh Steelers- Troy Fautanu OG

The Pittsburgh Steelers selected Troy Fautanu with the 20th pick in the NFL Draft. Troy is listed as a offensive guard, but actually played 29 games at left tackle for Washington, opposed to only two at the guard position he's used to pulling on the left side, and protecting his quarterbacks blindside. When Justin Fields takes over at quarterback, he will need someone to block his blindside. Could that be Fautanu?

Grade: B+

21st Pick: Miami Dolphins - Chop Robinson EDGE

With the 24th pick in the NFL draft, the Miami Dolphins selected Chop Robinson out of Penn State. Robinson ran a blazing (for an defensive lineman) I really like this pic 4.48 40 yard dash season and I think that he is an amazing player, and will be in the NFL. I really like the selection from Miami, as they are helping out their pass rushing core. I think that this pick will be amazing long-term.

Grade: A

22nd Pick: Philadelphia Eagles - Quinyon Mitchell CB

What the 22nd pick in the NFL draft the Philadelphia Eagles selected Quinyon Mitchell out of Toledo University. Mitchell has an amazing story, trying to prove that people out of small schools can still make it big in the NFL. Mitchell was able to stand out at Toledo, play well at the Senior Bowl, and prove himself to NFL scouts. The Eagles are getting an amazing cornerback here, and apparently very disciplined and hard worker on the field and off.

Grade: A+

23rd Pick: Jaxonville Jaguars - Brian Thompson Jr. WR

The second LSU wide receiver of the night has been taken. Brian Thompson Junior was the 23rd overall pick of the 2024 NFL draft, as he is heading to Jacksonville with the Jaguars. Thompson has been in Malik Naber's shadow most of us collegiate career, however, he is still very solid, and is definitely capable of being a wide receiverone later in his career. I think Jacksonville has made a really good pick here, and it will pay off in the long run.

Grade: A+

24th Pick: Detroit Lions - Terrion Arnold CB

I know that I've been very high on these last few few picks, but I also think of this one was a massive steal in this draft. The second best corner, Terrion Arnold was drafted by the Lions late in the first round. Arnold's skill set includes being very good at breaking up deep balls if needed, and is a very good press corner. I think the lines have found them an absolute steal and in a player, and other teams will regret not drafting him.

Grade: A+

25th Pick: Green Bay Packers - James Morgan OT

With the 25th overall pick in this year's draft the Green Bay Packers select James Morgan out of Arizona University. Period Morgan has decent experience starting 37 games so far, and can play either the guard position or the tackle if needed. I think this is an ok pick, as I think that the Packers would have been better off selecting Cooper DeJean at cornerback. All in all, this is still a pretty good pick, and I don't think any Packers fans will be too mad selection.

Grade: C+

26th Pick: Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Graham Barton C/OT

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Center, Graham Barton with the 26th overall pick and this year's draft. Barton is listed as a center, but is able to play the guard position if required. He looks to be a good backup for Ryan Jensen, however, and I think that that position will suit him the best. He started 34 games at left tackle in college, so he could also play there. He can really play anywhere across the entire entire offensive line, and I think that his versatility is nice to have.

Grade: A

27th Pick: Arizona Cardinals - Darius Robinson EDGE

The Arizona Cardinals selected Darius Robinson out of Missouri University with the 27th overall pick in the draft. Robinson is an edge rusher, who is not very fast. Robinson ran a pretty slow 4.95 40 yard dash time and he was inconsistent the entirety of last season. I think the Cardinals a little bit on this, but he's pretty good for his size, and will be able to carry this defense in the rebuild. I think that if you can turn into a star, the Cardinals might be forward.

Grade: B-

28th Pick: Kansas City Chiefs - Xavier Worthy WR

With the 20th pick in the NFL draft the Kansas City Chiefs selected the speedy wide receiver Xavier Worthy out of Texas university. Xavier were the set the 40 yard dash record with a blazing 4.21 time. I think that this is an amazing pick, chief squad that was in desperate need of a wide receiver. Looks like they found the guy that can rival Travis Kelce as Patrick Mahomes number one target down the road. It'll be a nightmare for defense trying to stop him and Hollywood Brown, two of the best speed there in the game.

Grade: A+

29th Pick: Dallas Cowboys - Tyler Guyton OT

With the 29th pick in the NFL draft, Dallas Cowboys selected Tyler Guytin out of Oklahoma University. The Cowboys did not do much in this off season, but got some pass protection may help out their offense more than you would expect. I expect the Cowboys to start Guytin week one of the season, I think you will learn the playbook really quickly. This team is very dangerous, especially if they're defense can pick up some of the slack that their team couldn't last year.

Grade: B

30th Pick: Baltimore Ravens - Nate Wiggins CB

The Ravens needed some secondary help, and they got one of the fastest guys in the draft to help them out. Nate Wiggins ran a 4.28 40 yard dash time, giving them some speed. He's not the tallest, but he's very good in zone coverage. I expect him to be at the top of his game against the AFC, who has some very fast wide receivers. I think the ravens made an excellent choice here with decision, and the franchise will have an amazing cornerback number one for years to come.

Grade: A+

Pick 31: San Francisco 49ers - Ricky Pearsall WR

Ricky Pearsall is heading from Florida to the Bay Area, as the San Francisco 49ers select the wide receiver to help about Brock Purdy. The 49ers looked to content again this year, and add another weapon, to this already loaded offense. I expected the 49ers will be be able to contend for another Super Bowl this season, And will start most people with how far they will go.

Grade: A-

Pick 32: Carolina Panthers - Xavier Legette WR

The Carolina Panthers have finally helped out Bryce Young. Xavier Legget ran a 4.39 40 yard dash time, and gives Bryce Yound a weapon to throw to. The Panthers brought in Diante Johnson this off-season, and now the have added Laverne to their roster as well. The Panthers decided to swap picks with the Buffalo Bills, to move up one pick, and get their wideout. I like this move, and getting Bryce Young help.

Grade: A
