We come into week 16 of the NFL season after witnessing an amazing week 15. We saw 3 comebacks of 17+, and the largest victory was only by 12 points. This week we have a big Thursday Night Football game in East Rutherford, when the Jets take on the Jaguars. With both teams trying to make the playoffs, let me share my analysis, a bold prediction and who I think will win the matchup.
Jaguars (6-8) @Jets (7-7) -1.0 NYJ 8:15 PM ET
Jaguars:
The Jaguars come into East Rutherford riding a 2 game win streak. Last week, they came back from down 27-10 to beat the Dallas Cowboys. Trevor Lawrence threw for 318 yards, 4 touchdown passes and only 1 interception. Travis Etienne Jr. was given the ball 19 times, and made good use of it rushing for 103 yards (5.4 per carry). I think that if the Jaguars want to upset the Jets, and stay within at least one game of the Titans for the AFC South, they will have to try to run the ball early and often against a solid Jets passing defense.
Jets:
The New York Jets come into this match against the Jaguars one game out of the 7 seed in the AFC playoff picture. They are behind the Dolphins, as they have to root for a Miami loss, and they would have the tiebreaker over them, thanks to a 40-17 victory earlier in the season. The 2 teams will meet in a big week 18 matchup. The Jets will be without starting quarterback Mike White for the second straight week, as White was not cleared. That means Zach Wilson will try to lead them to a big victory.
Bold Prediction:
The Jaguars will score over 27 points. Even though the Jets have only allowed more than 27 points once (in week 2 against the Browns) I think Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne Jr. will be able to gash the Jets for over 27 points.
