Game Preview: Week 1 - Lions @ Chiefs Thursday Night Football

The NFL season has officially arrived! The Kansas City Chiefs and the Detroit Lions are going to kick off the season. Can the Kansas City Chiefs start off on the right foot, as they hope to get back to the Super Bowl for the 2nd straight year. Or, can the Detroit Lions knock them off, as they hope to start their season off on the right foot. So now, let's get to my game analysis!

(0-0) Lions @ (0-0) Chiefs - Thursday, Sept. 7 8:20 PM ET

Game Analysis:

The Detroit Lions head to Arrowhead Stadium to kick off the NFL season against last seasons' Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs. Jared Goff threw for 4,438 yards last season, with his top receiver Amon Ra St. Brown, having 1,161 receiving yards, 146 targets, 106 catches and 6 touchdowns. The Lions also added Marvin Jones Jr. to the receiving room to give Goff some more options. The Lions running back room is stacked of talent with David Montgomery and rookie, Jahmyr Gibbs. On defense, the Lions defense will be lead by Alex Anzalone, who lead the team last year in solo tackles (77), assisted tackles (48), and total tackles (125) as the teams starting linebacker. Aiden Hutchinson is the Lions main pass rusher, who had 9.5 sacks last season and 9 tackles for loss. For the Chiefs, the offense has last seasons MVP, Patrick Mahomes who threw for 5,250 yards. His running back, Isiah Pacheco, 830 yards on 170 carries, which means he had a 4.9 average yards per carry. For the pass catchers on the Chiefs side of the ball, Travis Kelce, is Mahomes's main guy. He had 1,338 yard on 110 catches. I also expect to see a lot of good things from Kadarius Toney, as he did well last year. The biggest storyline however is about Chris Jones, the Chiefs defensive tackle. Jones hasn't practiced with the team all offseason, due to a contract dispute. If they work out a deal, he will play of Thursday night, otherwise they will have to operate without him. I think that the Chiefs will win, as long as they don't overlook this game. The Lions are good team, and if the Chiefs aren't careful, they could be put on upset alert.

Score Prediction:

Lions 30 Chiefs 34
