Game Previews - Week 1’s Sunday Slate

The NFL is back in business, and we have 13 games in the 1 PM or 4:25 PM (Eastern Time) window. Can rookie quarterbacks making their debuts prove to their fan bases that they should be the franchise quarterback, or will they disappoint. Can Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson and Justin Herbert prove that they were worth all the money they got. We will see, as we dive into each and every matchup on the first NFL Sunday of the year.

(0-0) Texans @ (0-0) Ravens - Sunday, Sept. 10 1:00 PM ET

Will CJ Stroud be able to adjust to NFL game time action in his first ever NFL start, or will the Ravens defense be to much to handle. In his final year at Ohio State, Stroud threw for 3,688 yards, 41 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. As a team, Houston averaged 17 points per game, while giving up 24.7 points on average. On the Ravens side of the ball, Lamar Jackson averaged 186.8 yards per game through the air, and 63.7 yards on the ground. The Ravens got him some help at wide receiver with Odell Beckham Jr., but Beckham injured himself on Wednesday, and he was limited on Thursday. He was listed as an ankle issue, and his status is unknown for Week 1. I expect Lamar to tear apart this Houston secondary, with 250+ passing yards. I expect CJ Stroud to throw a pick on his 1st or 2nd drive of the game, but will ease into the game and get a touchdown pass late in the 3rd.

Game Pick:

Texans 13 Ravens 31

(0-0) Bengals @ (0-0) Browns - Sunday, Sept. 10 1:00 PM ET

The Bengals and Browns start off their season in Cleveland for the battle of Ohio. Joe Burrow will play his first game 3 days after signing a 275 million dollar contract, breaking NFL history. The Browns have got Deshaun Watson, Nick Chubb, Amari Cooper, Myles Garrett and David Njoku leading the way. As for the Bengals, the big 3 of Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Joe Burrow will try to carry them to victory. Joe Burrow threw for 4,475 yards, 35 touchdowns and 12 picks last year. the Bengals had 2, 1,000+ yard pass catchers last year, Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. Nick Chubb lead the Browns offense last year, with 1,525 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground. Amari Cooper had 1,160 receiving yards and 9 touchowns. I think that the Bengals will win this game easily, unless the Browns defense shuts down the Bengals passing attack, and forces them to go to the running attack.

Game Pick:

Bengals 30 Browns 10

(0-0) Jaguars @ (0-0) Colts - Sunday Sept. 10 1:00 PM ET

The Jaguars look to kick this season off on the right foot after making it to the Divisional Round last year. Trevor Lawrence and Christian Kirk will try to lead to lead the Jaguars to victory against Anthony Richardson and the new Colts. Richardson makes his 1st career start in Indianapolis. Expect him to not even go for 200 yards and two interceptions. Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars are expected to dominate in the division, as all the other teams are in full rebuild mode. I expect Trevor Lawrence to get over 300+ yards in the air and 4 touchdowns.

Game Pick:

Jaguars 41 Colts 24

(0-0) Buccaneers @ (0-0) Vikings - Sunday, Sept. 10 1:00 PM

The Tampa Bay buccaneers head to Minneapolis to take on the Vikings. Bigger Mayfield looks to take over Tom Brady's role, And make a big impact and try to get the Buccaneers back to the playoffs. For the Vikings, Justin, Jefferson, and Kirk cousins will hope to repeat what happened last season in the regular season. I expect Jefferson to do a really good job creating separation from the Buccaneers cornerbacks. As for the Buccaneers offense, I don't expect much as I expected Vikings to do very well in their home opener.

Game Pick:

Buccaneers 10 Vikings 31

(0-0) Panthers @ (0-0) Falcons - Sunday, Sept. 10 1:00 PM ET

The Panthers and the Falcons both begin a new era at quarterback, as each team has a new starting quarterback to start this season. Desmond Ridder started 4 games last year for the Falcons, resulting in 708 passing yards, 2 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. The Falcons rush attack will be lead by Bijan Robinson, the Falcons first round pick last year. Bijan had an outstanding final year at Texas last season with 1,580 yards, 258 carries, 18 touchdowns and 6.1 yards per carry last year. I expect him to get his first career touchdown in this game. I also expect Drake London to get a touchdown reception. For the Panthers, they are in full rebuild mode, as they just drafted Bryce Young with the 1st overall pick in last season's draft, giving away last and this year's 1st overall pick, DJ Moore and more. I expect the Falcons to make Young's day tough, but he will throw his his first touchdown pass to late in the game.

Game Pick:

Panthers 20 Falcons 27

(0-0) Titans @ (0-0) Saints - Sunday, Sept. 10 1:00 PM

The Tennessee Titans in New Orleans Saints will take on each other in week one. Ryan Tannehill enters a final year of his contract this season, and has back up quarterbacks, Malik Willis and Will Levis waiting to take a spot. I expect Tannehill To throw for at least two touchdowns in this game. For the Saints, they brought in Derek Carr to take over the quarterback duties. I expect this game to be a high scoring matchup, therefore Michael Thomas will have over 100 yards and one touchdown reception.

Game Pick:

Titans 37 Saints 31

(0-0) 49ers @ (0-0) Steelers - Sunday, Sept. 10 1:00 PM

The San Francisco 49ers take on the Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field. Brock Purdy will have first opening game start of his young career. Purdy will take on the Steelers defense that I do not expect to do well this year. Can you pick it? Leaves the charge for Pittsburgh, as they look to get back into the playoffs. The Steelers have a streak of having a winning season that dates back to 2003. I expect them to be able to carry on that streak this season. I think Christian McCaffrey will be able to run for over 100 yards in this game, and Brock Purdy will throw three or more.

Game Pick:

49ers 27 Steelers 16

(0-0) Cardianls @ (0-0) Commanders - Sunday, Sept. 10 1:00 PM ET

The Cardinals and the Commanders kick off the season at FedEx Field for a battle of two teams that are not expected to do very well this year. The Cardinals quarterback, Kyler Murray, is currently rehabbing from knee injury. Josh Dobbs will make the start for the Cardinals this week, as I hope to get off to a good start this year. As for the Commanders, Sam Howell will be the starting quarterback for the squad to start the year. I expect this to be a very low scoring contest, as both teams do not have a very good offense. If your team does do well on offense, it will be the Commanders, is Terry McLaurin will probably tear up the Cardinals defense.

Game Pick:

Cardinals 13 Commanders 16

(0-0) Raiders @ (0-0) Broncos - Sunday, Sept. 10 4:25 PM ET

The Raiders and Broncos start the season with a little AFC West rivalry. Can Sean Payton guide the Broncos to a good season after a disappointing year a season ago. Russell Wilson has his second season with the new team, but he hopes to do better than he did last year. As for the Raiders, that brought in Jimmy Garoppolo to take over a quarterback. Garoppolo has had some success in the 49ers system, but so has most of the other quarterbacks that have been under Kyle Shanahan's squad. I think that whichever team will win the battle of Patrick Surtain, and Devonte Adams, will end up winning his game.

Game Pick:

Raiders 24 Broncos 21

(0-0) Dolphins @ (0-0) Chargers - Sunday, Sept. 10 4:25 PM ET

The Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles chargers meet at Sofi stadium to play against each other in week one of the NFL season. Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins will look to start the season off on the right foot, while Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers will try to prove that the Chiefs have some competition in their division. I expect both quarterbacks to throw for over 300 yards, and 2+ touchdowns. I expect this game to be a high scoring shootout between two very high-powered offenses. If both quarterbacks can achieve this mark, I think both run games and also have a chance to find success. I expect both quarterbacks to use the bootleg and play under-center and in the gun for quite a bit of the game.

Game Pick:

Dolphins 34 Chargers 41

(0-0) Packers @ (0-0) Bears - Sunday, Sept. 10 4:25 PM ET

The Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears open a new rivalry, as both teams look to have a new face of the franchise taking over under center. The Bears will find out if Justin Fields should be the guy moving forward, and the same thing applies to the Packers about Jordan Love. Christian Watson Will not be playing in this game due to a hamstring injury. Romeo Dobbs has been listed as questionable also because of a hamstring injury. I expect the Bears to run and throw the ball a lot, catching the Packers defense off guard. I also expect the Packers to have the same mentality, but I think it will be hard for them without Watson.

Game Pick:

Bears 31 Packers 27

(0-0) Rams @ (0-0) Seahawks - Sunday, Sept. 10 4:25 PM ET

The Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks will try to prove that their team is going to have a chance to compete with the 49ers in the NFC West. At Lumen Field in Seattle, both teams will kick off their season. Cooper Kupp has been ruled out with a hamstring injury, as he was also placed on IR by the team on Saturday. As For the Seahawks, it will be the second year with Gina Smith as the quarterback. I think that this team has a very good shot him to compete with the 49ers for the top spot in the division. As long as Kenneth Walker III can do solid on the ground, The Seahawks should easily be able to beat the Rams.

Game Pick:

Rams 20 Seahawks 34
